Mix sounds
Tip: turn on several sounds and balance them with the sliders. Keeps playing with your screen off on most phones.
How to use white noise for sleep
- Press Play and set the volume a little below a normal conversation.
- Choose a sleep timer, or leave it playing all night. The sound fades out gently over the last minute.
- Not quite right? Try pink noise or brown noise — they're softer and deeper.
White noise for focus and studying
Steady noise covers distracting conversations in open offices, cafés and dorms. Many people with ADHD report that brown or pink noise helps them concentrate. Combine noise with a timer for focused work sessions.
White noise for babies
A steady “shush” reminds newborns of the sound in the womb and can help them settle. Use a low volume and keep your phone or speaker well away from the crib.
Frequently asked questions
What is white noise good for?
White noise contains all frequencies at equal power, so it masks sudden sounds like traffic, snoring, neighbours or office chatter. People use it to fall asleep, focus, study, calm babies and reduce the annoyance of tinnitus.
White, pink or brown noise — which is best for sleep?
Many people find white noise a bit harsh and prefer pink noise (softer, like steady rain) or brown noise (deep, like a waterfall or airplane cabin). Try each for a few minutes and keep the one that feels most relaxing.
Is it safe to sleep with noise on all night?
For adults, yes at a moderate volume — keep it quieter than a normal conversation (below about 50–60 dB). For babies, place the device at least 2 meters (7 ft) from the crib and keep the volume low, as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Does it work with my phone screen off?
Yes on most phones: the sound is played like music, so it keeps going when the screen locks. If your phone stops it, keep the screen on with low brightness, or add the page to your home screen.
Does it use mobile data?
Only to load the page. The sound itself is generated on your device, so it uses no data while playing.
